We are people using the facilities and resources of the Archaea Biology and Ecogenomics Division who are concerned with the impact that our activities have in a global context. Our concern has been inspired by recent social movements and reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) from the United Nations regarding the negative impact that the modern human lifestyle has on the environment. This has motivated us to take a critical look at the utilization of resources within our research activities. To this end, our aim is to raise awareness within our lab and beyond with respect to where our resources come from and how we can use them more effectively. Concurrently, we intend to evaluate how we use our resources and take action towards creating a more sustainable lab system.
