Who we are
The research group of Prof. Podar at the Karl Landsteiner Privatuniversity of Health Sciences, Division of Molecular Oncology and Hematology is interested on bench-to bedside research to improve the lives of tumor patients through innovative diagnostics, prognostics and individualized cancer therapies.
The basic research focusses on exploring molecular processes that contribute to the development and progression of hematologic (e.g., multiple myeloma, myeloprolferative disoreders) and solid (e.g., breast cancer, genitourinary carcinomas) malignancies within the tumor microenvironment, as well as identifying novel biomarkers, and last but not least the preclinically development and evaluation of derived innovative agents and therapeutic strategies.
Why/How are we going Green
The Devision of Molecular Oncology and Hematology at the Karl Landsteiner Private University, leadership of Prof. Podar, is sharing the lab rooms with the Prof. Stoiber-Sakaguchi group, Head of the Division of Pharmacology and the Prof. Obermair group, Head of the Devision of Physiology. Both groups are already members of Green Labs Austria.
All three groups are coming together monthly discussing lab stuff. Currently a big point is to „stay green“ which means to be more innovative in sustainability in the lab within the working groups. We tried to create a common waste management to reduce waste or reuse as well as trying to reduce energy for several devices (e.g., reducing freezer temperature) if possible. Moreover the groups are using reusable glass pipettes whenever possible and trying to avoid as much plastic ware as possible. Together we are a strong team and are trying to implement recommendations from Green Labs Austria as much as possible to protect our planet.
