Who we are

The Geoecology Group aims to understand how ecosystems function across different spatial and temporal scales. Specifically, we study the physical, chemical, and biological parameters controlling ecosystem carbon turnover at the landscape scale. We focus on vegetation and soils because they are indicators of current and historical ecosystem conditions. Our research employs methods from soil science, ecophysiology, and micrometeorology within a geographical context to achieve this goal.

Why/How are we going Green

We aim to raise awareness of the sensible use and reuse of consumables, such as plastics, as well as the careful, long-term maintenance of instruments. Additionally, we aim to expand our collaboration with other working groups to share and exchange equipment. We recommend traveling by train instead of by plane or car. In the future, we plan to separate and recycle polypropylene and polyethylene plastics in the laboratory.
