Who we are
Our group is using an integrative structural biology approach for functional studies of challenging biological questions. We use molecular biology, biophysical and structural methods like circular dichroism (CD), isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), X-ray crystallography and cryoEM. Our main focus is on bacterial surface proteins and their influence on the adaptive immune system of humans.
Why/How are we going Green
Comparing to office spaces, the research labs consume much more energy and water. To be an environmentally-friendly lab is one of the ways to secure that what we do today doesn't deplete resources for future generations. Switching off the computers and machines overnight, re-using the plastic and glassware, (almost) no printing, running the computationally intense tasks on dedicated servers are only some of the measures that we apply in our lab. Also, we perform our measurements at specialized facilities like synchrotrons online, which reduces the traveling and our carbon footprint.
