Who we are

Our research focuses thematically on stress and health, in particular on examining systems relevant to stress, such as the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA), the immune system and the autonomic nervous system, and examining the influence of interventions on the psychophysiological stress response (e.g. stress management training, music). To do this, we use a wide range of analytical methods in our studies. In the Biochemical Laboratory (BCL), run by our research group, stress-associated biomarkers from saliva, blood and hair are determined, including endocrine markers (e.g. saliva and hair cortisol), markers of the autonomic nervous system (e.g. salivary alpha-amylase) and immune markers ( e.g. cytokines).

Why/How are we going Green

Our goal in joining Green Labs Austria is to reduce our ecological footprint on as many levels as possible, with the greatest potential being in saving energy, e.g. when using electronic devices, as well as by optimizing the heating and cooling of our laboratory and office spaces. Additionally, we are currently looking into concrete options to reduce our waste and to switch to using recyclable materials where possible. Furthermore, we are collecting suggestions for adaptations at the faculty level, e.g. concerning heating and lighting of the building/corridors.
